New Report: 2024 Reading at Grade 12

This report presents selected results from the National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP) 2024 reading assessment at grade 12. The report includes national results on the performance of twelfth-grade students. Results are presented in terms of an average overall reading score (on a 0 to 500 scale), change in performance compared to previous NAEP Reading administrations, and as percentages of students performing at or above three NAEP achievement levels: NAEP Basic, NAEP Proficient, and NAEP Advanced. Results are reported for students overall and for selected groups, such as by race/ethnicity, sex, socioeconomic status, students with disabilities, and English learner status. The report also provides information about student performance on sample assessment questions as well as data related to students’ opportunities to engage in reading at school and outside of school.
