Assessing the Impact of Standards-based Middle School Mathematics Curricula on Student Achievement and the Classroom Learning Environment

This study iexamined the use of mathematics textbooks by teachers in grades 6, 7, and 8 including the impact on student performance. The purposes of the study were to describe how and the extent to which teachers use district-adopted textbooks and other curricular resources and to monitor the mathematics performance of middle grade students using these materials over a two-year period.
