New What Works Clearinghouse Report: Balanced Leadership®

The What Works Clearinghouse (WWC) recently reviewed eligible research on Balanced Leadership® and its impacts on school leaders, teachers, and students. The results are summarized in an intervention report released by IES on March 11, 2020.
Balanced Leadership® is a professional development program that supports school principals and other current and aspiring school leaders to understand and implement a set of actions and behaviors that may be associated with improved student outcomes. School leaders participate in professional development sessions with trained facilitators over one or two years, and they can receive additional coaching and online support from the program developer.
The WWC determined that one study of the effectiveness of Balanced Leadership® met WWC group design standards without reservationsBased on a finding from this study, the WWC found that Balanced Leadership® may increase principal retention at the school. Access the full intervention report here.
