Preparing for the Common Core: Using Performance Assessment Tasks for Professional Development presents findings from three school districts in California that piloted performance assessment tasks aligned to the Common Core State Standards. It describes the experiences of teachers and administrators within those districts and examines how the pilot helped them learn about and prepare for the Common Core.

The interviews also provided insights into the types of support these educators saw as important for their successful implementation of the Common Core. Their experiences and insights provide critical information for district administrators throughout the state, who are in the midst of selecting and/or implementing strategies to support teachers in the transition to the Common Core.
