What Works Clearinghouse rated the research evidence on Plato Achieve Now, a math software-based curriculum for the elementary and middle schools grades. Software-based assessments are used to customize individual instruction, allowing students to learn at their own pace with content appropriate for their skill level. One study of Plato Achieve Now met What Works Clearinghouse evidence standards. This study included 1,037 sixth-grade students in 13 schools in three districts across the United States. The Clearinghouse assessment of the research found Plato Achieve Now to have no discernable effects on math achievement. Based on this one study, the WWC considers the extent of evidence for this math intervention to be small for math achievement.
